Daniel Paille appears at Fundraiser in NH

June 24, 2011

Bruins Forward Daniel Paille is known for his hard work and selfless style of play on the ice.  With the Bruins season having come to a victorious finale, he had the opportunity to exemplify those characteristics off the ice as well.  Just 6 days after the Bruins celebratory parade, Paille traveled to Brookline, NH for a Kick-a-thon fundraiser at a martial arts academy.  Proceeds from the event were donated to the Pan-Mass-Challenge to benefit Dana Farber and the Jimmy Fund.

Over 200 students and families attended the event. Participants appreciated Daniel taking time to speak to every person there, making each feel special. He discussed the Bruins phenomenal playoff triumphs, posed for photos with families and signed autographs.

Paille, with the help of Blue Sky, local business, attendees, and all others involved brought the hub’s jovial atmosphere to this small New Hampshire community. The event was extremely successful and raised approximately $13,000 for the charities involved.

Congratulations to the Boston Bruins: 2011 Stanley Cup Champions!

June 16, 2011

After 39 years without a championship win, the Boston Bruins have finally brought the Stanley Cup back to the Hub of Hockey. With a 4-0 victory over the Vancouver Canucks, the resilient group became the first team in NHL history to win a Game 7 three times in the same postseason. The Bruins, widely perceived as underdogs, outscored the Canucks 23-8 in the series, erasing any doubt that they deserved their moment to hoist hockey’s most highly sought-after prize.

While it took a supreme team effort to win the deciding game, a few players turned in particularly notable performances. Pivotal to the team’s success was Tim Thomas, recipient of the Conn Smythe Trophy. Thomas finished the series with an astonishing .967 save percentage, while also recording two shutouts, the most recent in Game 7 of the finals. Rookie Brad Marchand notched 2 goals and an assist to clinch the victory, wrapping up a stellar postseason in which he recorded totals of 11 goals and 8 assists. Also scoring twice in the winning effort was assistant-captain Patrice Bergeron. With this Stanley Cup victory, the Bruins become the seventh Boston sports team to win a title in the last decade.

Hockey Legend Darryl Sittler makes Appearance and Impression at Toronto Home Expo

June 7, 2011

On May 19th, Darryl Sittler, the Ontario born hockey Hall of Famer, made an appearance at a Toronto home expo.

The expo was an event held for the design, building and remodeling industries. The event was a huge success and was attended by over 300 builders, contractors and architects.  Sittler was very well received by participants, meeting every person in attendance and signing many autographs.

Sittler is a Toronto hockey legend, which speaks volumes about his playing ability.  To stick out in Toronto is a feat because the Maple Leafs are an original six team and one of the most decorated franchises in NHL history.  Sittler to this day holds the record for most points scored in one game and is recognized as one of the top 100 athletes to ever play the sport.
